Like with any other surgery, laser eye surgery could go wrong at any time. The surgery itself is very complex and delicate. Should anything go wrong mid-surgery, the patient's eyes could be affected for the rest of their life. The only way to correct permanent damage is to acquire hard contact lenses. There are still problems involved in getting the lenses, because not everyone can tolerate them. The lenses are quite uncomfortable. It is also hard to get the right fit, and if indeed a patient decides to embark on that journey, the process is time-consuming.
